Rolling farmland, gentle hills, streams and amazing woodland — there's plenty for families to explore. Here are some of the best routes, tips, and ideas for getting out on two wheels in the countryside around Mid-Wales.

Here are some of our favourite routes:

The Elan Valley - these cycle trails are the old railways lines so the gradient is perfect for a family outing. Such stunning views of the Mid-Wales mountains and the extraordinary Victorian reservoirs.

Radnor Forest - this is one of our local woods and offers miles of woodland trails. We love retelling (and reimagining) local folk tales about the Radnor Dragon when we cycle in these woods. Legend has it that the last dragon in Wales is in a deep slumber here.

Hafren Forest - if you are feeling adventurous then trails in the Hafren Forest will lead you up to Pumlumon Fawr (the highest peak in Mid-Wales and the source of three rivers!). We love the more accessible family trails, but we are building up to the big ascent.

Christmas is the season of giving — but it can also be a season of waste.
